Beaver English Society
Literacy Lift: English for All Young Hearts
Our Mission
Beaver English Society is a non profit organization. Our mission is to empower children in developing countries with the opportunity to learn English. In regions where access to quality teachers and financial resources is limited, our organization aims to recruit dedicated and compassionate young individuals. Through the medium of reading picture books, we provide remote assistance to children who aspire to learn English. Additionally, we strive to enhance the capabilities of our volunteers through this process, enabling them to develop valuable skills while making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Comments from our Staff
"I was teaching once, and I was rewarding a 3 year old child who had answered my question correctly with a encouraging applause. And then he went of running to tell his mom "MOM, THE TEACHER'S CLAPPING FOR ME!!!" And so it repeated. I clap for him, smile at him, he runs off to tell his mom and runs back to answer my questions. How insanely adorable. "

"I remember once when I was teaching, there was a child who was really shy and struggled to read picture books. When I asked him, he was always too scared to answer. So I asked his mom if it was okay to let him read the book to me in Chinese first and then I copied him. Then he would feel more comfortable to copy me and read the book in English. After a few lessons using that technique, the student definitely stepped out of his comfort zone. He probably enjoyed teaching me Chinese.
